Uniesse is a household name in the yachting industry. Founded approximately 30 years ago by two Italian brothers, the Scaburris. They came from an unexpected, and equally unexpectedly applicable, family for yachtsmen: they're family business was button-making. As button makers, they knew a lot about wood buttons, until they no longer used wood, they learned a lot about resin. What was once used to maintain the whiteness of buttons has been used as a buffer to the finish of the main coats on Uniesse yachts.
They are currently in the middle of a significant shift. In 2017 Uniesse Marine S.P.A. in Italy had their assets acquired by Uniesse Marine Group, LLC. Uniesse Marine Group is an American-based company run by David A. Schwedel and Rafael Barca who, combined, have over 75 years in the marine industry and over 15 years of hands-on experience at the Uniesse in Italy. Rafael Barca was the person to initially introduce the Italian Uniesse designs into the United States in 1998 and will be the new face and CEO of the company, whose manufacturing facilities are in Pisa, Italy, and administrative & design headquarters are in Miami, FL.
The entire team is currently refreshing the shipyard's designs. Not only are the boat designs changing, but the company's work process is also changing.
According to David Schwedel’s website, “Along with Uniesse’s new ownership, the company unveils a consolidated manufacturing process, streamlined operations, enhanced technology to improve the owner/operator experience, and a fresh focus on customer service.”
Now is the time to buy used Uniesse yachts, as they will go up in price after this reorganization of the company since they will no longer be able to be produced. Especially watch out for the ones designed by Fred Hudson, a practical celebrity of marine and automotive design for his incredible creativity.
If you prefer to wait to see what is in store for 2019 when the new designs come out, remember no matter what custom model you chose, Uniesse is quality.
The Uniesse Sport 56, introduced in 2018, is a beautiful modern super sports yacht coming in at 56 ft in total. It is the initial model in a new line of four sports yachts, the 56, 65, 70, and the 95. It has three staterooms and two heads. Natural lighting is everywhere in this boat, including the brightly lit the downstairs kitchen.
Uniesse will continue to be a big mover in the yacht industry as it continues to produce yachts that can withstand the ages while maintaining their style.
Today's designers have to innovate on what has not even been thought of yet, and this is something Uniesse is good at, knowing what people will want in the future. Uniesse yachts far outlast their style periods, not just for luxury, but they built them to last as well.
