History of Everglades Yachts
Everyone has heard of
Boston Whaler and its unsinkable foam hull, but did you know that Everglades Yachts Founder, Bob Dougherty, was instrumental in helping to develop it? Joining Boston Whaler in 1960, he spent the next four decades perfecting the foam-injected boat hull construction process. In 1999, he took it a step further by molding the structural foam separately, then incorporating it into the hull rather than injecting it. This process, called Rapid Molded Core Assembly Process, or RAMCAP®, won a National Marine Manufacturers Innovation Award that year.
In 2001, Dougherty opened Everglades Yachts. His patented closed-molded RAMCAP hull construction is the solid foundation for every boat the company builds. Construction also utilizes premium gel coat, vinylester barrier, skin coats, and knitted bi-axial fiberglass, along with high-density PVC transoms. High-quality components and materials are used throughout the boat, including heavy-duty vinyl upholstery.
