Broward Marine Highlights

Broward Marine is a ship builder began business as a refit and repair facility and delivered their first yacht in 1953 in South Florida.  Another notable delivery was to the owner of Jim Beam Distilleries in 1958. They also had a hand in building minesweeping vessels for NATO contracts before shifting back to a focus on yacht building, bringing technical shipbuilding experience to their yacht customers.

With over 300 Broward Yachts built and a popular following over the years for owners and their families cruising every major yachting market in North America and beyond.

Their all aluminum series went into production in the 1970s and saw the first ever triple diesel engine yacht built with their 92 ft M/Y Jervet.    Another fascinating delivery was  the 112 foot M/Y Britannia with triple Detroits for a blistering 43 knot speed in the late 1980s. In the 1990s other deliveries included the tri-deck M/Y Pegasus, also a triple engine yacht in 130 feet, and the 156 foot M/Y Bubba Too as the largest US aluminum delivery at that time.  (Source: The-Triton com, Boat International, shipbuildinghistory com)

As a sistership to these and the other 300 Broward Yachts delivered, BLACKWOOD is a 1998 Broward 103 ft Pilothouse Motor Yacht in fine company.  The owners have proudly cruised aboard with family, friends, and charter guests over the last several years and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

They are looking for a larger vessel and have put Blackwood on the market for sale.

NEW - The Main Salon has had new Italian carpet installed with additional sound shielding to make for an even quieter cruising experience.  Custom wall coverings and new overheads.

The Salon and Dining room are framed by low cabinets for storage and artwork and sculptures atop the counters.  Works seen in photos will not convey with the sale as they have personal importance for both the unique areas in Canada and Alaska that have stories attached to them.

The Dining room features an expandable table centerline with seating for 6 -8 with comfortable fabric seat backed chairs, bright lights and warm rich woodwork surrounding the salon and dining room.  It is a very comfortable and inviting space no matter the season.

Next up from the Pilothouse is the Flybridge helm.   Redesigned to function better with the new electronic upgrades and space planning, this helm tends to get the most use as it allows interaction with the guests while cruising.  Given the abundance of views, wildlife, and amazing vistas of the Pacific Northwest, the Flybridge sees the most action for whales and other unique marine sightings.

The Flybridge

This is naturally one of the popular areas aboard.  Whether cruising in sunshine or rain, this space provides excellent viewing with the protection of the hardtop, large bright polycarb windows that can slide aside for fresh air, and 4 overhead glass panels that allow light to the flybridge.  This space, too, takes advantage of the full beam and puts your viewing and windows right at the beam.  A centerline area for serving alfresco meals and beverages throughout the day give it a natural gravity for conversations and company.

With both covered areas as well as settees for relaxing in the sunshine on the boat deck, the Flybridge is a wonderful space enjoyed by all.  Port and Starboard dockin stations – in addition to the centerline helm – allow for lengthwise visibility to the dock while docking.

The Davit is a Nautical Structures EZ-2000 DC/Hydraulic mounted to the aft end Port side.  The teak decks are in good shape and run from the Flybridge helm aft to the end of the crane.  The kayaks are located on non-skid inside the rails.  Owner’s have a custom 33 ft aluminum tender they use as shore boat and for fishing adventures.  (also available for purchase separately – please inquire with the broker.

Lower Staterooms.

This is a 4 stateroom vessel with berths for 9 guests plus crew.  The Tehnicold Reverse Cycle AC System is new and provides both cooling and heating for all cabins.

Stairs down to the Lower decks for the Owners, Twin Guest and Queen Guest are the port side of Dining room as you walk forward.

The Owner’s Stateroom is full-beam located forward as you reach the lower deck level.  A laundry room with new 2023 Miele Washer and Dryer sits outside of the guest stateroom foyer.

Owner Stateroom features the full use of the beam, including space for a desk, large TV, and head and shower.  Heated towel rack in the cabin offers that extra level of luxury for owners and guests.

Next aft is the Starboard Queen Guest stateroom and ensuite head.  This berth sits facing inboard allowing morning light when shades open to allow guests to wake up naturally to start the day.  Across the foyer is the second Guest stateroom with twin berths and ensuite head on the port side.

Heading back up to the Salon level brings you around the dining table and up the starboard passageway of the salon to the Galley.

Galley

Galley – this is a wonderful space that opens up to take advantage of the beam and also forward to the remaining deck house.  Two overhead hatches provide natural light as do the large windows in each side.

A large refrigerator with freezer, 2 fridge drawers, and new drink fridge complement the excellent cold storage aboard the vessel.  Trash compactor and dishwasher, Ceramic Cooktop with Oven (new) and Dishwasher.

An abundance of counter space with the port counters as well as center island bar make this a Chef's favorite.

Forward of the granite center island is the dining table, which is glass.  This really opens up the space visually and carries the light - wonderful spot to grab breakfast or catch up on the day for lunch.  It is a gravity center as it allows food prep and conversations to continue.

Large windows on the sides - plus the overhead hatches - keep this a bright and inviting spot aboard.

Just to starboard is the steps forward down to the VIP Stateroom on the lower deck level.

VIP Stateroom

VIP Cabin is located forward of the Galley down the steps to the VIP stateroom, which is a very private space aboard being in the bow area.  Ensuite head and additional storage for hanging locker makes this a favorite spot for guests.

Centerline VIP berth is located forward and the ensuite head is located just at the foot of the steps aft.  A nice private spot aboard.

Aft Deck

Aft of the Salon brings you to the Aft Deck.  This enclosed space has an abundance of seating and makes additional space aboard that is conditioned.  Whether heating or AC, the canvas and Eisenglass enclosure provides a wonderful spot to enjoy meals and quiet times.

The owners added a separate heater for the aft deck to knock the chill off in cooler climates such as Alaska.

Crew Area and Engine Room

Steps from the Aft Deck to the Swim Step provide access to the Crew Area and Engine Room.  A center walkway between Captain and Crew Cabin take you to the Engine Room Door.  In the foyer is also a second set of Beko laundry units.  Engine room door provides access to both sides of the main engines, generators are located outboard.  This is a very clean and tidy engine room and show the continual care and upgrades made.
