General

New in Seward. 2020 42' X 16' BRIX Marine Semi-Displacement Catamaran.  Don't miss this rare opportunity to own a like-new, low-hour, TWO STATEROOM, semi-displacement catamaran designed by Scott Jutson Marine Design http://jutson.ca/power-semi-displacement.php built by BRIX Marine.(WHITTIER CLIFFSIDE 60' SLIP AVAILABLE FOR SALE BY OWNER WHEN PURCHASED WITH VESSEL. SALE TO BE COMPLETED BETWEEN VESSEL BUYER AND SELLER) Most recreational boaters are familiar with the trawler-yacht benefits of low fuel consumption, deep hulls for safety and sea keeping and lots of room below deck for comfortable accommodations. The growing trend in this style of vessel has spilled over into the world of catamaran design because cats offer superior ride comfort in a seaway, 40% more usable deck space, and are much more easily driven with the same or better fuel economy at faster speeds than similar sized mono hull trawlers. These faster speeds give us boaters more flexibility in the daily distances we can travel, (cruising speeds up to 18 knots) and more safety allowing you to run for cover when the weather turns quickly. These craft also have many other uses. They make great work platforms for hydrographic survey, dive boats, and as commercial fishing vessels where stability at rest is needed to work on deck in sloppy seas. Nomad was designed for a cruising couple to bring along their family or another couple with two staterooms forward with ensuite heads. She is constructed of heavy gauge marine aluminum plating, and very economical with fuel consumption up to 1.5 miles per-gallon at displacement speeds. She is truly a unique, thoughtfully equipped long range cruiser with very low hours and first class outfitting.

Accommodations

Easy ingress and egress in this arrangement with aft cabin and starboard sliding doors giving you access to the generous full walk-around cabin on each side that takes you to the cockpit or fore deck. Entering from the aft cockpit slider the long galley is to starboard and a large L shaped convertible dinette is to port. The galley is equipped with a full-size double stainless steel sink with soap dispenser and lots of counter top space, and a Isotherm SS-200 double stainless steel under-counter refrigerator-freezer. There is even a large pantry on the port side in front of the L-shaped dinette. Cabin heat and heat to the berthing areas come from a Webasto 31,000 BTU Hydronic diesel boiler with defrost and ducting throughout with 4 zone fan heaters. Forward is the center helm station equipped with a Springfield Marine Norwegian luxury helm chair and (2) settees with ballistic nylon cushions providing the skipper with his command center and additional seating for guests and family while underway. Down and aft to the main deck from the upper deck are the companion ways to the two port and starboard mirror image staterooms.  Each stateroom has a queen berth and comes with with a set of drawers and hanging storage and it's own en suite head with hot water shower with floor sump and vanity and mirror.  This arrangement with a hinged door and the berthing and head in each forward pontoon assures you a quiet nights rest even when there is activity in other parts of the vessel.

On Deck

Easy access on and off Nomad with both port and starboard cockpit side doors and a full-width transom swim grid with stairs up each side. This feature makes for easy on-off at the dock when loading people and gear or stepping into the dingy. Very large cockpit for fishing, working shrimp or crab pots or lounging about. There is a large starboard fishing cleaning station with gut chute and tackle storage under that you could fillet a large halibut, down rigger pads and plugs and an Electradyne 12VDC pot puller with aluminum davit to starboard. These pot pullers are commercial grade and can pull a string of shrimp pots or even king crab traps.  Entering from the swim step forward, the cockpit has a port and starboard boarding doors for additional access when at the dock. There are large transom and bow storage lockers with hinged doors fore and aft and (2) saltwater wash down pumps with spigots and one freshwater wash down pump with spigot for washing off your rods at reels after a day fishing. Moving forward you step up 4 steps port and starboard to the walk-around cabin configuration which gives you access to the side decks and access to the forward anchor gear on the fore deck. To run the ground tackle simply push the DC helm switch to operate the Lonestar GX-5 12V DC drum windlass spooled of 80 of 3/8" chain, 400' of 1/2"" Amsteel spectra line connected to a #73 Rocna plow-style anchor.  Flying bridge access is from the fixed aluminum ladder port-side in the cockpit. There is a nice aluminum freezer enclosure, and a spare 100 gallon potable water gravity fed tank on the upper deck to refill the two 100 gallong port and starboard below deck tanks. (Total potable water capacity is 300 gallons.) On the upper deck there lots of room for additional storage of pots, kayaks, or and inflatable dingy.

Engines and Mechanical

She is powered with a pair of 2020 180 HP John Deere 4045 4 Cylinder M2 diesel engines rated at 180HP at 2400 RPM's. Each engine has 924 hours on the port engine and 924 hours on the starboard engine. Very low hour engines both coupled to ZF-85A down angle marine transmissions with 12V shift and (2) PTO's turning 2" stainless steel shafts with Dyna Quad bronze 3 bladed 24" props tucked up into tunnels with Shaft Shark line cutters, and PSS dripless shaft seals. Sea Star Electric Power Steering with two station Glendinning electronic controls at the center mounted main helm and aft cockpit controls. Carrying 600 gallons of fuel in (2) 300 gallon tanks, she has a range of 550 nautical miles at 11.5 knots and a top speed of 17.5 Knots at 2425 RPM at WOT. At full displacement speeds she does 8.1 knots burning 6.4 GPH getting 1.45 MPG.  Robust fuel filtering comes from the SMX double multi-stage fuel filtration kits, one for each engine with vacuum gauges. This system is a 10 and 20 micron fuel filter system that is designed to stop all debris before it gets to the primary fuel filters on the main engines.  There is a simple primer bulb to prime a new filter that has been installed and each filter comes with a vacuum gauge.  Another cool feature is the raw water flow alarms for each engine.  This allows the skipper to see a potential cooling water obstruction before the engines overheat.  The house generator is a Northern Lights 6 KW Northern diesel generator with 520 hours, a sound shield, and Gen-sep water separator muffler.

Electrical and Electronics

Love the center helm station giving you great visibility while underway.  Great Garmin electronic package with Garmin autopilot, 12" Garmin MFD with a Garmin 18 HD radar, plotter, and 600 watt stainless steel transducer. She has Sea Star Electric power steering at both the forward helm and aft station with two station Glendinning electronic shift and throttle. In the port side pontoon is a Side Power 12V bow thruster with controls at the main helm and aft station. Lots of great diagnostic helm equipment like the raw water flow sensors with alarms, rudder angle indicator, high water alarms, two engine room cameras, and a Garmin 210 VHF radio with AIS, hailer, and removable mic. She comes with a Magnum 2800 Watt inverter with (4) Lifeline deep cycle AGM batteries, (1,200 Amp hours) and nice starting bank consisting of (3) Lifeline AGM start batteries. The tank tender keeps track of the volumes in the fuel tanks, water, and waste tanks.
