At Galati Yacht Sales, we take pride in providing exceptional customer service to our clients. Andrew Maryott, one of our seasoned yacht brokers, recently demonstrated this commitment when he went out of his way to assist a client facing a challenging situation. With his years of experience in the industry, Andrew was quick to identify a solution and took immediate action to resolve the issue. This is just one example of the level of dedication and professionalism our team brings to the table when it comes to serving our clients.

5 Countries, 10 Days, and no Plan B

Viking 68 - Plan BAndrew’s customer just took delivery of a nearly-new Viking 68 at our Anna Maria location. The boat had just left our customer support (service) team and was ready to move permanently to Puerto Rico. The hitch was the boat needed to be in PR in 12 days, and the owner, an attorney, also needed to be at a trial in federal court in 11 days. What normally would be at least a two-week trip — the west coast of Florida to Puerto Rico — needed to happen fast!

Without hesitation, Andrew stepped up to the plate and offered to guide his client on an unforgettable journey back home, spanning across Marathon, the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos, the Dominican Republic, and culminating in Puerto Rico.

The group had one day to provision the boat for the 1,400-mile journey and only had time to make one marina reservation, which was in Marathon. Even with only one reservation, they were at a slip every night!

The yacht trip from Florida to Puerto Rico in 10 days went something like this:

  • Day 1: Anna Maria Island, FL, to Marathon, FL
  • Day 2: Marathon to Nassau, Bahamas, where three guests from PR joined the excursion.
  • Day 3: Nassau to Little Farmers Cay with stops at Pig Beach, Thunderball Grotto
  • Day 4: Little Farmers Cay to Long Island, where they snorkeled in Dean’s Blue Hole
  • Day 5: Long Island Bahamas to the Turks and Caicos and anchored at Leeward Beach
  • Day 6: Turks and Caicos – toured the entire island by car, took the tender to the shipwreck, and began to watch the weather as a storm was approaching.
  • Day 7: T&Cs to Porta Plata, Dominican Republic, where the group enjoyed Ocean World
  • Day 8: Porta Plata to Cap Cana, DR, with a little fishing along the way
  • Day 9: Cap Cana to Home Port in Puerto Rico
  • Day 10: Clean the boat
  • Day 11: Andrew flew back to Tampa

  • The Ultimate Yachting Destination Trip – Florida to Puerto Rico

“I wouldn’t have attempted this trip in anything but a Viking Yacht,” explains Andrew. “Yes, there are other boat brands that can make the trip, but not at the speed we did it. The Viking 68 holds enough fuel, has incredible performance, and truly we were self-reliant if needed.”

“The best aspect of the Florida to Puerto Rico trip was that the boat’s performance made the date realistic, and we didn’t need to push too hard. So, we also had time to enjoy the voyage and cherry-pick the best spots. It was incredible to experience so much in such a short amount of time with really appreciative people.”

“The name of this boat is Plan B, and that was the attitude of everyone on board. While there was no Plan B for our arrival date, there was plenty of flexibility on how we got there!”
