Hannibal Bank & Isla Montuosa are home to a diverse range of billfish, including black marlin that can be found throughout the year, as well as blue marlin, sailfish, yellowfin tuna, wahoo, and dorado. What sets these waters apart is the unique presence of offshore currents that bring nutrient-rich water into the Gulf of Chiriquí, creating the perfect habitat for an abundance of microscopic life. From January through March, you can find blue marlin and sailfish in these waters, while yellowfin tuna are a year-round catch with the larger specimens prominent in May and June. Black marlin, averaging 500lbs, are most notorious in August and September.
