Top 5 Things To Do On Anna Maria Island
Anna maria island

Anna Maria Island (AMI) used to be one of Florida’s best-kept secrets. But in past years, the bright blue waters, sugar sand, and small-town charm make it the definition of island living and therefore, quite the hot commodity. People from all over the world visit for its quiet and relaxing ambiance. But there is one thing about the island that is not so quiet — the Galati family! Between the hustle and bustle of Galati Yacht Sales’ headquarters and our very outgoing Italian family, the small island can be quite exciting. Whether you visit AMI for our yachting services or simply want to plan a vacation here, these are the top five things to do when visiting the stunning island of Anna Maria Island, Florida.

1. Visit the Beaches:

We will start with the obvious when visiting AMI, the beaches. Bright blue waters where you can see your toes like a magnifying glass, sea shells dug in the sand, and the stunning shorelines are absolute paradise. Bring a towel to lay on, a beach chair, or just your cooler and float away your worries. Hot spots on the island include White Ave, Bean Point, and Holmes Beach.

2. Tour the Island of Anna Maria

Whether it’s by bike, a Segway, golf cart, or walking, there is so much to see along the small-town streets. Between the family-owned boutique-style shops, lunch, coffee, ice cream, and donut shops, you’ll find yourself hopping from one good find to another all day long. Be sure to make a pit stop at our Anna Maria yacht brokerage. Walk our docks to catch a glimpse of towering Viking sportfish yachts along the front row and the latest boats for sale.

3. Go boating: Anna Maria, FLorida

Whether you are in the mood to go deep sea fishing off the island or cruising around, the scenery that comes with the boat ride is something you won’t want to miss out on. There are also beautiful sandbars right off the channel where you can feel like you are walking on water. Long Boat Pass and Egmont Key are both popular spots where you can anchor and jump right off the boat with other boaters surrounding you. Make a day of it and bring your floats, cooler, and lunch for an adventurous day of sandbar hopping. We can almost guarantee you’ll have at least one dolphin or manatee sighting! 4. Visit the AMI Historical Museum

The first thing you’ll learn is that so much of the history of AMI is still there. We are so lucky to get to still enjoy the same things that charmed the island from its founding years. The first assembled dock on Anna Maria Island was the pier, which is still there (although reconstructed following Hurricane Irma) and can be visited today, a staple for its iconic view of the Sunshine Skyway. The Anna Maria mural is still on Pine Avenue as it was in the early 20s. Also, be sure to stop by 314 Pine Avenue to see the historic painting during your shopping spree!

    5. Shopping & Dining on Anna Maria

The boutique shops that line the streets are filled with some of the most unique items you can find. Looking for that perfect décor item for your house or the best gift for a friend or family member, the shops of Anna Maria Island have it all, including clothing shops for men and women of all ages. The food options are slightly limited due to the size of the island, but boy, they are not holding back on the deliciousness! Some local favorites are the Waterfront Grill and the Sand Bar for traditional island food, Poppo’s Taqueria for Mexican food, and Ocean Star for a yummy hibachi experience and sushi feast.
