In a year where the world changed drastically, a shift took place that benefited the online world and how we interact with products and services. As people were obliged to stay home, many turned to social media to pass the time or to escape from this newfound reality. As one might have suspected, one of the most visited sites in 2020 was YouTube.
The online video-sharing platform is the second most-visited site in the world, only behind Google, who owns the platform. Engagement across the YouTube platform increased significantly this year, with an estimated increase in users from 1.68 billion in 2019, to more than 2 billion in 2020. Not to mention, over 1 billion hours of video watched daily. Most importantly, the social media giant provided businesses with a way to stay connected with consumers during an unprecedented time. Many in the marine industry turned to the platform for online boat shows, YouTube Live, and video series to keep customers engaged.
Our YouTube channel alone saw a 14% increase from 2019 to 2020; with over half a million views on yachts for sale and nearly 20k hours of watch time. Here are the top five most-watched youtube videos on our channel for 2020.
