Memorial Day Monday, May 27th – Anna Maria Island, FL

Monday, was a relaxing day in Anna Maria for Memorial Day. We rented golf carts and bikes for the group to explore the island. Some had a beach day and others shopped Pine avenue. Later in the afternoon, we ventured on a bar crawl for the group on the Monkey Bus visiting beach bars and iconic island stops.

When we returned, we enjoyed a pot luck dinner on the docks and aboard Team Galati to celebrate the Memorial Day Holiday. Chef Tim Creehan, a famous chef in the Destin area, was a guest aboard After Five and prepared some of his famous dishes for the group such as penne pasta with homemade meatballs and red beans and rice with andouille sausage.  Jennifer Galati made her famous Taco Soup and others in the group contributed homemade chili, cocktails, and more.

Tuesday, May 28th – Longboat Key, FL

Tuesday morning, we ventured from Anna Maria Island to Longboat Key Club Moorings. We enjoyed the day poolside and shopped St. Armands Circle in the afternoon. St Armands Circle is home to some of the best shopping and dining on the West Coast. Including dining favorites, The Shore Restaurant, The Columbia, and many more!

Wednesday, May 29th – South Seas Resort

Wednesday morning, we left Longboat Key for South Seas Resort. All of our customers were in awe of the resort and said they felt like they were in the Bahamas with the waterfront pool, frozen drinks, and exotic scenery. After a long day at the pool, we all enjoyed dinner on our own time, spending quality time with family.

Thursday, May 30th – South Seas Resort

Thursday was another gorgeous relaxing day at South Seas Plantation. We explored the area with the trolley, shopped and enjoyed the beach. Our group enjoyed a cocktail hour and a wonderful dinner at Harbourside Bar and Grill. The group by now had really gotten to know one another and truly enjoyed everyone’s company and fun boating stories.

Friday, May 31st – Useppa Island, FL

Friday we woke, fueled up and went to the private island of Useppa. The exotic flowers and old Florida white beach homes took our breath away. We all jumped off the boat excited to explore the unique island as soon as the lines were tied. We shared our favorite photos of the island in our group text for all to enjoy. Some dipped in the pool, explored the island from north to south and others enjoyed the Useppa Island Museum.

Galati Yachts’ Rendezvous Formal Goodbye— Best of Florida’s West Coast

Team Galati hosted a reception and formal dinner that night for the entire group. We mingled at the bar with complimentary wine, cheese, and crackers for the reception. Showing each other photos we got on the trip, talking about our favorite stops along the way and getting to know one another even more. We retired to the formal dining room of the historic Collier Inn. Joe Galati made a toast to “fair winds and calm seas” for their return home to Destin and toasted to new friends we’ve made during our West Coast Galati Yachts’ Rendezvous!

View History of the Collier Inn

After centuries of occasional use by fisherman and hardy adventurers, the island was acquired by Chicago streetcar magnate John M. Roach in 1894. Roach built a residence to escape the cold winters of his northern home. Soon his tycoon friends discovered his island hideaway and convinced him to build a hotel on Useppa so they could also share in his good fortune. One of Roach’s guests was the legendary New York advertising executive, entrepreneur, and Florida landowner Barron G. Collier.

Collier eventually developed much of Southwest Florida and built the famous “Tamiami Trail” highway between Tampa and Miami. He fell in love with Useppa on his first visit in 1906 and acquired the island. Turning it into a classic turn-of-the-century getaway for many industry giants, political bigwigs, and even Hollywood celebrities who escaped to Useppa for tranquility, elegant accommodations, first-class cuisine, and unsurpassed tropical beauty. Thus began the modern tradition still with us today.
