There is no better way to kick off summer than getting out on the water, and that is just what we did on our Abacos Bahamas Rendezvous! With multiple stops through Florida and the Bahamas alike, we were so excited to begin the 13 day journey with customers and guests on “Amica Mea” a 52 Prestige, “Paragon” a 65 Princess, “Edy’s Money” a 54 Azimut, “Knot Guilty” a 75 Viking, “Creating Memories II” a Princess 50 Fly, “Be As You Are” a 68 Prestige, “Our Seaquel” a 54 Maritimo, “Crystal Breeze” a 49 Grand Banks, “Compass Rose” a 75 Princess and “Team Galati” a 73 Princess.
We are fortunate to be able to spend time with customers in idyllic locations through our Rendezvous trips. These trips are planned and coordinated by our team and captains and we look forward to each one throughout the year.
Beginning in Anna Maria, stopping at Faro Blanco in Marathon and then onto Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale, the Welcome “Docktail” Party at Bahia Mar officially kicked off the trip on June 7th. We dodged a bit of rain, seeking cover aboard Team Galati with cocktails and horsdeourves while Team Galati delivered the first round of Galati Gear gifts. Despite the rain, the excitement was high for days to follow on our Abacos, Bahamas Rendezvous.
Saturday was an early start in anticipation to make the crossing over to Old Bahamas Bay. We were met with incredible conditions on the trip over. Upon our arrival to Old Bahamas Bay, the group made their way to the beach and the pool to relax after a long day of traveling. After dinner, Team Galati hosted a Game Night where we had a surprise performance by the Bahamian Junkanoos! All cameras were out to capture one of the Bahamas’ greatest treasures.
We were met with an early departure from Old Bahamas Bay to our next destination of Treasure Cay. Conditions were excellent as we made the trip, boasting calm and beautiful blue seas. We were fortunate to spend two days on Treasure Cay soaking up the sun, it’s pristine beaches, and excursions to be had nearby. Guests took their tenders to explore nearby islands to swim with pigs, visit Nipper’s, to scuba and snorkel. Team Galati enjoyed a group dinner with customers before it was time to set out to our next destination
Although we were sad to say goodbye to the tranquil turquoise waters of Treasure Cay, adventure awaited on Marsh Harbour. Team Galati set out early to the Abaco Beach Resort alongside “Edy’s Money,” “Our Seaquel,” “Be As You Are,” and “Amica Mea” to make a pit stop at No Name Cay to anchor out to enjoy some swimming and paddle boarding in to see those infamous Bahamian Pigs. We had crystal clear calm water that allowed us to enjoy a few hours offshore before we continued on to Marsh Harbour.
Wednesday, June 12th Team Galati led the group to Hope Town for a day on land to explore the charming and quaint little town. We took the quick ferry over and had lunch overlooking the ocean at the scenic Hope Town Harbor Lodge. We spent the day admiring the pastel-colored cottages in town and the beautiful cliff-side views the island has to offer.
Wednesday evening Team Galati hosted a cocktail hour and dinner at the Blue Hole for customers and guests. Team Galati was excited to share a meal and evening with the larger group as a small token of our gratitude. The Blue Hole put on a special evening and spared no detail, where else than the Bahamas can you enjoy conch fritters served on palm leaves. With another full day on Marsh Harbor, customers seized the opportunity to and take advantage of the countless things to do and see nearby.
Upon arriving at Spanish Wells Yacht Haven, the group relaxed poolside and enjoyed dinner at Wrecker’s conveniently located on the property. On Monday, many of the customers explored the island by way of bike and golf cart, while others ventured to Pig Island to explore by dingy and get in some more swimming with the pigs! The busy day of adventure was capped off with a sunset cruise aboard Team Galati where we were met with gorgeous views and a few dolphin friends playing in our wake!
Although the ride was a bit rainy, we finally made it to our last destination of the Bahamas, North Bimini, where we enjoyed the unique and plentiful restaurants Resorts World has to offer.
Before heading back stateside, several groups ventured out to snorkel the shipwreck “Sapano,” while many of the guests enjoyed the resort’s private beach on the Atlantic side of the island. We couldn’t get enough of the blue water and white sand beaches the Bahamas has to offer.
It was a truly wonderful trip with so many memories made. We look forward to future Rendezvous and treasure the times spent boating with customers. Until next summer!
