Galati Yacht’s Summer Sport Fishing Tournaments

Summer is winding down and now close to the end. With football season and boat show season right around the corner, we look back on all of our summer sport fishing events this past summer. With tournaments from Alabama to Mexico. Team Galati sponsored a multitude of summer sport fishing tournaments, attending each of them and cheering on our customers along the way.

We wanted to congratulate our customers and friends in their success this tournament season and recap some of the results and memories we had this summer!

Mobile Big Game Labor Day Tournament

At the Mobile Big Game Fishing Club Labor Day Tournament, our friends on “Born 2 Run” won the Club Cup and placed 2nd in catch and release with 3 blues and a 170 lb. tuna placing 2nd in the Tuna division!

Galati Yacht Sales Broker, Jason Lozeau, fished with his customers on “Twisted Bills”. Winning the 2017 Florida West Coast Bluewater Series and Old Falt fishing Loop Tournament! Tagging 2 blues and 1 white marlin. They also brought in a sword weighing over 175 lbs. Bringing them the gold.

Bisbee’s East Cape Fishing Tournament

At the Bisbee’s East Cape Fishing Tournament in Mexico, the “Retriever” took home 1st place in the release division in their new 66 Viking. “TAG Team”, in their 61 Viking, won 1st place in the Dorado division. Other Galati Yacht Sales customers, “Hooray” in their 80 Viking and “El Suertudo” in their new 80 Weaver, had a great time fishing and capitalizing on the shotgun start each morning!

Lone Star Shoot

The Lone Star Shoot out had 49 boats compete. Our friends brought home some great winnings with the champions being “Done Deal” a 70 Viking! Congratulations to GYS customers and friends, Jon Gonsoulin and his captain Jason Buck! They also won “Top Crew” and “Top Money Winners”!

Orange Beach Billfish Classic

At the 2017 Orange Beach Billfish Classic, “Lyons Pride” a 67′ Viking was the first to weigh-in and held on to their victory of first place! Angler Riley Satterfield released his first blue marlin becoming the tournament winner weighing in at 431.6 lbs.!

“A Work of Art” a 92′ Viking from Orange Beach released three Blue Marlin landing second place in the catch and release division.

“Done Deal” a 70′ Viking won the Tuna division and was the first boat to ever weigh a Bluefin Tuna at The Wharf. Angler Katie Gonsoulin’s won the Top Lady Angler award.

“Team Supreme” a 76′ Viking placed second in the tuna division with a 174 lb. Yellowfin Tuna.

Crosthwait Billfish Tournament

The Crosthwait Billfish Tournament was a big success with a lot of wins from our customers! “Team Galati” swept the wahoo division and won 2nd place Mahi!

Pensacola International Big Game Tournament

At the Pensacola International Big Game Fishing Club Tournament “Bleu Sky” a 2001 55 Viking caught two Blue Marlin’s coming in at 2nd & 3rd Place. “Reel Addiction” a 2006 56 Viking caught a 771.4 lb. Blue Marlin putting them in First place. “Born2Run” 2017 72 Viking had two Tag & Release on Blue Marlin and 2nd place Wahoo! An amazing job!

Blue Marlin World Cup

Congratulations “Done Deal” on the fantastic win at the 2017 Blue Marlin World Cup. As well as the “The Gulf Cup Blue Marlin Tournament”!

The Blue Marlin Grand Championship

The Blue Marlin Grand Championship at the Wharf in Orange Beach, AL pulled all the crowds yet again! Galati Yacht Sales hosted the Crew Party to kickoff the tournament.  We were also proud to be the sponsor of Channel 15 news. Bringing the tournament to your homes!

Our friends “Breath Easy” won first place across the board in the Catch and Release category.

“Done Deal” a 70’ Viking with captain Jason Buck placing 2nd in the Catch and Release category with a 1,503 lb. blue marlin.

“Quick Time” a 70’ Viking with captain Shelby Johnson placing 3rd in the Catch and Release Category with a 1,202 lb. blue marlin.

“Don’t Blink” a 56’ Viking winning 1st place in the Tuna category T4 at 173.6 lbs.

“Team Supreme” a 76’ Viking with captain Chuck Morris placing 2nd in the Tuna category T4 at 144 lbs. and 2nd place in the Dolphin category D4 at 22.8 lbs.

Emerald Coast Billfish Classic

Team Galati was also a proud sponsor of the Emerald Coast Billfish Classic in Sandestin, FL. As well as a number one fan awaiting the vessels at the weigh-ins and Galati Customers placed across the board!

“Team Supreme” brought in a 551 lb. Blue Marlin from the 26-year-old angler, Alex Krake, telling the crowd he “took a nice long nap after.”

“Born2Run” made jaws drop with their 1st place Tuna at 169 lbs. as well as 1st place release jackpot.

“Geaux Deep” won 1st place in the Catch and Release category. While Diane Kay winning 2nd and 3rd place in the Tuna Jackpot category.

“Breath Easy” won 1st place in the dolphin category at 27.9 lbs. and 3rd place Tuna at 142.3 lbs.

“Done Deal” placing 3rd in the release Jackpot. Ellie B won 2nd place Wahoo Jackpot.

“Buck Shot” a 45’ Cabo with captain Hunter Junek winning 1st place in the Wahoo division at 49.4 lbs.

Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic

At the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic at the Golden Nugget “Born2Run” angler Dana Foster, Capt. Myles Colley and crew won 3rd place tournament award with a 563.92 blue marlin. “Breathe Easy” caught a 501.75 lb. Blue Marlin.

“Aries” a 76 Viking earned the top tournament award in the 2017 Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic! A 668.77-pound blue marlin that topped the next challenger by less than 15 pounds.

Galati Yachts Tournament Wrap Up

With over 100 boats competing this year in the summer sport fishing events, we are so excited about what action next year will bring!

We look forward to some upcoming tournaments such as three Los Cabos Tournaments in a row. Which our very own Carmine Galati will be fishing in this upcoming October!

We were not able to mention all of our great friends and customers in this article but so many more boats and organizations had an extremely successful summer sport fishing season!
