Hooker Sea Chest Features

As seen in the video below, the Hooker Sea Chest on this particular V41 boasts a range of features, including a refrigeration pickup, two Hooker 4500 pumps, and a pickup for the Seakeeper. The two Hooker pumps are designed to operate individually, one at a time, with the second pump serving as a reliable backup. To ensure efficient operation, it’s essential to close the valve to the inactive pump, preventing water circulation.

Refrigeration System on Valhalla Boats

For the refrigeration system to function smoothly, the orange valve, as seen in the video, must remain open. The refrigeration units offer both air cooling and water cooling options. If your vessel is on a lift, you can utilize the air-cooled function, but remember to keep the hatch open near the refrigeration units (more details on this below). Additionally, there is an individual switch for the refrigeration pump that should be turned on. A clear indication that the pump is running is the water pumping out overboard in the port aft corner.

Seakeeper Pump

Now, let’s discuss the Seakeeper. The Seakeeper pump, a red Johnson pump, is situated in the middle of the Valhalla 41, responsible for pumping water to your Seakeeper. If you receive a high temperature or water alarm, the first step is to check the Sea Chest and ensure the pump is operating. A simple touch should reveal a slight vibration. If the pump is not running, it may be air locked.

Frigibar Refrigeration Units on the V41 Valhalla

As mentioned previously, the Valhalla V41 is equipped with two Frigibar refrigeration units. If your boat is on a lift, it is essential to keep the compartment open when the units are being air-cooled. However, if you have opted for water cooling, simply activate the switch for the pump that was mentioned earlier. You will find the Frigibar units conveniently located beneath the helm seating area.
