EMERALD COAST BLUE MARLIN CLASSIC 2017 RESULTS AND RECAP

Tropical storm Cindy did not stop the determination and passion that the 238 anglers on the 36 boats competing in the 15th annual Emerald Coast Blue Marlin Classic which took place this past weekend in Sandestin, FL.

Friday afternoon the boats threw off the lines and ventured to the Destin Pass from the Sandestin Marina with Galati’s 62’ Viking leading the pack. The line of fishing boats made their way to Crab Island awaiting the starting line. The count down to the Shotgun Shoot-Off was made official by the ECBC tournament crew aboard Galati’s 62’ Viking along with the TV crew and live broadcast. The signal was made and all of the teams raced to their fishing destinations.

While the weigh-ins on Saturday took place, the action continued and the boats rolled in Sunday night. The rain and bright orange sunset only added to the atmosphere of suspense as boats came in with their hopeful prize-wining fish.

Galati Customers placed across the board! The stunning Viking Yachts prove to be the perfect vessel for the sport and the rain did not kill the mood as the teams went to weigh-in.

“Team Supreme” brought in a 551 lb. Blue Marlin from 26-year-old angler, Alex Krake, telling the crowd he “took a nice long nap after.”

“Born2Run” made jaws drop with their 1st place Tuna at 169 lbs. as well as 1st place release jackpot.

“Breathe Easy” landed 1st place in the Mahi-Mahi category with 27.9 lbs. and 3rd place Tuna at 142.3 lbs.


“Geaux Deep” won 1st place in the Catch and Release category. With Diane Kay winning 2nd and 3rd place in the Tuna Jackpot category.

“Done Deal” placing 3rd in the release Jackpot. Ellie B won 2nd place Wahoo Jackpot.
