BOATING IN SARASOTA WITH GALATI YACHT SALES

BOATING IN SARASOTA WITH GALATI YACHT SALES

In a previous issue of At The Helm, we highlighted our Destin location, so in this issue, we thought it fitting to explore Sarasota, Florida, which is home to Galati Yacht Sales newest offices. Our new and expanded Sarasota office is located at the renowned Marina Jack in downtown and boating in Sarasota is always a great adventure.

Marina Jack

Marina Jack is a fantastic location to call home base if you are arriving by boat. Transient slips can accommodate vessels up to 228’ feet in length. With a maximum beam of 26’ or mooring balls are available. In addition, the Marina’s full amenities includes bathrooms/showers, launderette, concierge shuttle, and ship’s store.

From Marina Jack, there are just so many places to go to either by land or by “sea”.

Siesta Key

Siesta Key is famous for its beaches having been recognized as the Top Beach for 2017 by Doctor Beach. It is accessible by car or by boat. Should you find yourself on Siesta Key on a Sunday evening prior to sunset, you must check out the Drum Circle. You will be drawn in by the percussions and stay for the show which culminates with the sunset.

Lido Key

Cross the Ringling Causeway, and you’ll find Lido Key. Lido too, has gorgeous beaches and is the home to the upscale St. Armands Circle. St. Armands was the vision of its founder, circus magnate, John Ringling. His influence is still present today in the design of the streets. Radiating from the island’s hub and in the Italian statuary, many from his personal collection. With 138 shops and restaurants, there really is something for everyone.

One mile north of Lido Key, you will find Mote Marine on Sarasota’s City Island. Mote’s working aquarium allows you an up-close experience with a variety of marine animals and fish. Including two touch tanks and a 135,000-gallon shark habitat. You can also witness scientific research—as it happens—in viewable working laboratories.

If you want to get up close and personal with nature and you don’t mind a little exercise, you might want to consider taking a kayak or paddleboard through the mangrove tunnels located at Ted Sperling Park at South Lido Beach. With the mangroves forming an arch overhead, the waters are so clear you can expect to see crabs, seahorse, a variety of fish. Such as mullet and snook along with the occasional otter. While it may seem like you are in a maze, the tunnels interconnect and provide an easy path back to the launch ramp. Kayaks and boards can be rented through the many vendors at the park.

Marie Selby Botanical Gardens

Also located on the Bayfront and within walking distance of our Sarasota location is Marie Selby Botanical Gardens. The Gardens is 15 acres of rare and beautiful tropical plants. Including a rainforest display, tropical conservatory, banyan groves, and mangrove bay walk.

Regardless of whether you explore the Sarasota area by boat or by land, you will appreciate the beauty of the Sarasota Bay and the activities that surround it.

Galati Yacht Sales will be hosting an open house on November 11 and 12 at our Marina Jack location.
