As we conclude the unprecedented 2020 calendar year, we’re taking a look back on some of the most remarkable new yacht models that 2020 has graciously brought to the yachting world; the best of 2020, if you will. These new model debuts are from leading brands in the yachting industry, many of which earned prestigious awards to prove it. Ending 2020 on a positive note, here is a recap of some of the industry’s most notable achievements this year.
Starting off the list is Viking Yachts 54 Convertible release. The leading sportfish and motor yacht manufacturer announced their newest model back in September, reaffirming their domination in the mid-size convertible sportfish range. The 54 convertible made its world premiere at the 2020 FLIBS, where she took home the Best of Show award. View her world premiere here.
Viking pushes the owner/operator 54 Convertible to the uppermost levels of engineering, performance, accommodations, and sportfishing capabilities. Making full use of the 17’8” beam, the layout highlights the expansive size of her interior. The key to the configuration is the uninterrupted companionway that stretches from the starboard-side salon door to the forepeak. Below deck, the three-stateroom two-head layout includes a master suite to port with a walk-around queen berth. Anglers will appreciate the unobstructed 154 square foot cockpit. With six inches of additional cockpit space from that of the 52 models, the 54 C comes to the tournament circuit with enough ammunition to put you in the winner’s circle. Next up on the list is the Valhalla V-46 center console release. Viking subsidiary company, Valhalla Boatworks, released the news of the 46 center console this past summer. The V-46 will make her debut at the Viking VIP event in January 2021. One of the main highlights of the V-46 is the overall length increase of six feet and a 13’ 4” beam. With the extra space, Valhalla was able to meet customer demands stemming from their V-41 model including, improved accommodations, full head with shower, larger cabin space, a/c, generator, and much more. At 46 feet, the new Valhalla model will also include advanced forward seating and larger volume aft. Second-row seating and an aft-facing mezzanine will display on a seven-inch raised platform, all while holding to the great fishability and visibility of her brethren. Learn more about the V-46 here.
Making an official launch in February of this year was Princess Yachts X95. The first of the flagship X Range establishes a new ‘Superfly’ class that reimagines the concept of flybridge yacht by creating a more extensive outdoor space; while making the most of every inch indoors. In July, Yacht enthusiasts all over the world had the opportunity to tune-in to the live launch, where viewers were able to take a virtual tour of the yacht. This was an industry first, which saw a virtual launch of this flagship yacht surprisingly through social media channels.
Notable features of the X95 include a new hull, designed exclusively by Olesinski, which evolves the original deep-V concept to provide 15% improved efficiency, along with outstanding stability and sea-keeping. Both main and fly decks extend virtually covering the entire length of the yacht. Allied to an enclosed, climate-controlled Sky Lounge and flexible open-plan layout, the X95 combines the space and luxury of a superyacht with the range and purpose of a compact explorer yacht.
