At 37 feet 8 inches long, the 37 Billfish is the smallest offering in Viking’s extensive line of sportfishing boats. That doesn’t mean it’s small, though. The 86 square foot cockpit provides plenty of room to maneuver with a nonslip teak decking underfoot. The bright salon is open to the cockpit and features a U-shaped banquette with an adjustable fiberglass table that converts to a bunk. A lounge seat sits opposite and flanked by the helm seat, as well as a cockpit bench on the other side of a large window. The salon is available with air conditioning for forays into tropical waters where the sun is hot, and the wind is still.
Above, the Viking 37 Billfish’s flying bridge helm covered by a fiberglass canopy is surrounded on three sides by a Costa Clear enclosure. The center console features a single-lever control with the option of joystick controls, Vessel View engine instrumentation, and power-assisted hydraulic steering. A polished wood pedestal helm chair gives the pilot complete command of the bridge and the horizon. Lounges and jump seats for passengers round out the inviting space.
The 37 Billfish’s nearly 14 feet of beam provides for a spacious galley below. In addition to cabinetry ample enough to stow plates, utensils, and food, the galley features an electric stove, microwave/convection oven, stainless steel sink, and Corian countertops with a drawer-style refrigerator under the counter.
The generous stateroom tucked into the bow can hold a queen-size bed or over-and-under berths along with cabinets, hanging lockers, under-bed drawers, and a rod shelf. A 20-inch flat-screen TV, stereo, and CD/DVD player offer entertainment and weather updates. A fiberglass shower stall, Corian countertop around the sink, mirrored medicine cabinet, and rich wood accents makes the Viking 37 Billfish yacht’s bath feel spacious and elegant.
The entire area below deck is air-conditioned with access via a transom door next to the lower helm. Twin Cummins QSB 6.7 diesel engines power this yacht and pour out 550 MHP. The six-cylinder, turbocharged engines, and their associated machinery conveniently located in the salon area beneath electronically operable hatches top out at a speed of almost 35 knots and cruises at around 30 knots.
The 37 Billfish’s molded fiberglass hull has a 12.8-degree transom deadrise. The hull is a mix of a solid fiberglass bottom, cored construction from chine to sheer, fiberglass fabrics, and vinyl ester resin barrier coatings. The stringer system made from a molded fiberglass gel–coated grid is chemically bonded to the hull.
No matter what you’re determined to reel in—marlin, sailfish, or swordfish—the Viking 37 Billfish yacht has everything you need and nothing you don’t.
