Yacht Broker Capt. Rex Witkamp was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, and began boating, surfing, fishing, and scuba diving at an early age. The ocean is part of everyday life in Florida. In his early years, Rex fell in love with the water, certifying as a scuba instructor, offshore fishing, and competition surfing throughout his early college years. He still feels the same excitement every time he steps on a boat today.
A lifelong passion for offshore fishing led to owning and operating his own fishing charter in the sportfishing capital of the world, Islamorada, Florida Keys. As a former Firefighter/Paramedic, his attention to detail and engineering work ethic has propelled his career in yachting by adding value and experience to his networks gained while working in the yachting industry. He founded Freelance Marine Group LLC: FreelanceMarineGroup.com, a superyacht and sportfish maritime consulting firm delivering “Innovative Consulting Strategies That Accelerate Yacht Program Goals” for luxury yacht clientele.
As a Freelance Captain, Rex has delivered, maintained, managed, and operated Viking, Bertram, Cabo, Hatteras, Horizon, Maiora, Pacific Mariner 85, Monte Fino 82, Evans, Whiticar, Hargrave 116, Westport 112, Westport 130. Capt. Rex will also travel internationally to liaison and help you build your dream yacht program directly from the factory with a new build.
